Front Audio Port Not Working Rating: 8,9/10 9395 reviews

May 11, 2015  After installing all the drivers and everything else working perfectly, I have found out that my front audio jack isn't working I've made sure that the headphones are not muted in the lower right hand corner icon. I went to the BIOS screen and found out that even with my headphones plugged into the jack, I have found out that in the BIOS screen.

  1. Front Audio Port Not Working

Hi Neill,

Thank you for posting in the Microsoft Community.

I’m sorry to know you are unable to use the Front headphone port, it would be grateful if you could reply to these questions to assist you further.

1. Did you try using a different headphone and check for the issue?

2. What is the make and model of the headset?

3. Do you remember making any software or hardware changes prior to the issue?

4. Does the update driver tab grayed out or not available to update the sound drivers? Realtek hd audio driver.

Method 1:

You may try connecting a different headphone to the Front port and check for the issue.

Method 2:

You may refer the computer or device manufacturer website and try installing the Chipset and sound card drivers to the latest version.

Method 3:

Disable speakers and other audio devices temporarily enable only the headphones:

You can temporarily disable the other devices from the playback devices, enable only the headset and also set headset as the default device.

a. Click Start and Control Panel.

b. Click Hardwareand Sound and then Recording.

c. Under this, right click on the empty area and make sure “Show Disabled Devices” has a check mark on it. If the headphones are disabled, it will now show up in the list.

d. Right click on the device and select “Set as Default Communication Device”. Click OK.

Please reply and let us know if you need further assistance to fix the issue and we will be happy to help you.

Audio

Alright so, I am using a turtle beach x12 headset on my desktop and I use the front jacks as plugins. I had an issue where the mic worked but no audio would come through. After fiddling around a bit I might've found a solution and would like some to test it as well.

Step 1 - Head to your device manager

Step 2 - Under Sound, video, and game controller, there should be a driver named VIA HD Audio.

Front Audio Port Not Working

Step 3 - Right click VIA HD Audio and click uninstall. If it refuses to uninstall give it a couple seconds and try again until it uninstalls.

Step 4 - Now that the driver is uninstalled, at the top of the window there should be an Action button, click it and click Scan for hardware changes.

Step 5 - You should now see a new Category with a driver that has a yellow triangle with an exclamation point in it.

Step 6 - Right click that driver and click update.

Once it is update you should now have a new driver under Audio inputs and outputs, it should be called Headphones (VIA HD Audio), if you have this your headphones speakers should be working properly now.

I hope this is of help to anyone, if it doesn't work, I'm sorry but this is all I could find to fix my problem.
